Figure 3. Graph of Frequency Response of two Cascaded 500 k ohm pots. This is a graph of the frequency response and phase response of the circuit in figure 2. At the bottom of the graph the X axis is scaled in frequency on a logarithmic scale from 2 k hertz to 20 k hertz. On the right side the Y axis is scaled from minus 24 dB at the bottom to minus 14 dB at the top with markings and graph lines every 1/2 dB. The DC attenuation of the two pots is calculated as minus 13.98 dB. The graph shows the attenuation is already minus 14.2 dB at 2 kHz. It is minus 14.75 at 4 kHz, 15.5 at 6 kHz, minus 16.6 at 8 kHz, minus 17.7 at 10 kHz, minus 18.8 at 12 kHz, minus 19.75 at 14 kHz, minus 21.75 at 18 khz, and minus 22.6 at 20 kHz. The scale for phase is on the right and runs from minus 100 degrees at the bottom to 0 at the top with marks every 5 degrees. At dc, or very low frequency the phase would be zero degrees. At 2 kHz it is already down to minus 15, at 4 kHz it is minus 30 degrees, at 6 kHz it is minus 42.5, at 8 kHz it is minus 53, at 10 kHz it is minus 63, at 12 kHz it is minus 72, at 14 kHz it is minus 79, 18 kHz it is minus 92, and at 20 kHz it is minus 95 degrees.
